Gone With the Wind

Gone with the Wind is one of the top block office movies which I think it may have deserved it in 1939 I don’t think it should still be up there in 2011. Even though it was a classic it wasn’t the movie for me but I think the only reason it became the top movie is through inflation over the years. Although I don’t like the movie I think it’s more of something for older folks to watch since its long and boring and they always seems to be the type of movies that they like. I just regret that I couldn’t pay attention during the whole movie so it seemed harder for me to follow the movie. It seemed to move really slowly at the beginning and then it sped up really fast during the end almost like they were in a rush to finish the movie.
At the beginning of the movie we see Scarlet who doesn’t work and has had money all her life. She’s used to having servants like Manny that do everything for their owners and is like a mother to Scarlet that spoils her. Maybe that’s the reason that she became a snotty brat that can’t do anything by herself and she tries to be better than everyone else. Near the middle of the movie was when she lost her family and money. It was also when I noticed that she just mooches off of other people for their wealth.
Scarlet used Rhett Butler and married him because of all his money so she could live the life that she was used too. Throughout the time Scarlet was married with Butler I never saw a time where it looked like either one of them loved each other. Rhett and Scarlet were always fighting and Rhett would storm off into a different room and avoid Scarlet. The only reason I think Rhett stayed with Scarlet was because of the kid that they had.
The death scenes in this movie were horrible. Especially the ones that involved horses, I couldn’t help myself but to laugh at it just because it was so ridiculous. The people just fell off the horses and you could easily tell that that wouldn’t kill a person but I guess they didn’t have the technology for better death scenes in 1939. They could have thought of better ways or even tried harder in the death scenes but I don’t know what kind of technology they had back in the day.
